Drop Inns
Drop Inns is a series of droplet-shaped sculptures crafted from woven yucca leaves and mud, suspended in clustered formations from tree branches.
Designed as both aesthetic forms and experimental habitats, these sculptures offer potential shelter for the vulnerable Eastern pygmy possum—an arboreal marsupial under threat from ongoing habitat loss.
This work responds to the urgent need for ecological restoration and the protection of native species. By positioning contemporary sculpture within the context of environmental problem-solving, Drop Inns explores how creative practice can contribute to ecological resilience and reimagined coexistence.
The installation invites dialogue, honours complex ecological systems, and encourages deeper connections between people, place, and more-than-human life.
Drop Inns were created for and Winner of the Pearl Beach Arboretum Environmental Sculpture Trail Award 2025
