In collaboration with John Power. What appears to be a stylised and abstract sculpture draws inspiration from the natural forms of the local landscape. Hello Casuarina is a sculptural welcome to the station and town. It is inspired by the Black She-oak (Allocasuarina littoralis), a tree of cultural significance for the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung people and references Montmorency’s bushland character.

Female trees produce small, woody cones approximately 1 cm in size. These remarkable cones are formed by a double helix of ventricles (pointed chambers that house the seeds). The work invites contemplation of these subtle natural geometries, offering a new perspective on the often-overlooked, diminutive features of the local bushland environment.
